Didymos Colours:

The Didymos Baby Carrier is considered by many to be the Rolls Royce of wraparound slings. The beautiful fabric is woven from 100% organic cotton for the ultimate babywearing experience. The Didymos Baby Carrier is worn wrapped around your body & tied, offering supreme comfort & versatility. As a newborn, your baby can be carried close to your heart either upright in the cross-carry or wrap-cross-carry, or lying down in a cradle position. Older, more inquisitive babies may prefer to be carried in the kangaroo carry, so they can observe the world around them, whilst being reassured by your presence and touch. With an older baby or toddler you may prefer to use your Didymos Baby Carrier to carry them on your hip, or on your back in the rucksack carry or the back wrap cross carry.

The dyes are not poisonous, free from any heavy metals and completely non-allergic to the skin. the 'Indio' pattern is produced by weaving together a light (undyed) thread and a dark thread so that a small diamond pattern appears. In the undyed clothes (Natural Green, Natural Brown, Cotton/Linen, Cotton/Hemp) the thread is either linen, hemp, or naturally coloured cotton. The way in which you carry your baby or toddler determines the size of the sling you need.

The purchase of my Cotton/Linen Indio was easy and quick. I ordered, Stuart rang for my credit card details and my wrap was here by the next morning! First thing out of the box the Indio felt a bit stiff but after a wash it softened up a bit, this also made it easier to wrap with. I found the instructions easy to follow but the DVD helped a lot - as it was easier for me to follow and helped as you can see the carries done in real life and not on paper. The size guide provided by Freerange was useful and correct for my sizing - I'm a size 10 and can do all the carries with my size 5. The wrap is very comfortable to wear and allow seemingly expensive when you consider that it is organic cotton for that length of fabric it is good value and comfortable. For anyone considering trying a wrap I would recommend a Didymos.

Review Didymos Size 5 Indio Red I have tried a variety of sling types (having started from Tricotti sling, to pouches, to ring slings to Mei Tais), and have started looking into alternatives for carrying heavier toddlers just in case my daughter gets heavier and ‘still’ ;) wants to be carried as much as she does now (she is 25+ lbs, loves to be carried, and is carried unless she decides to walk). I was also looking into soft structured carriers, but as I am quite petite, the smallest setting on the waist belt of e.g. Ergo or Patapum is too wide for me. I wish I had gone for a wrap earlier - I did not, as I felt intimidated by the length and perceived complexity, but I did not need to fear! Another thing that was putting me off was the ‘alternative’ looks of the wrap, but, again, having seen the pictures of people using it, both on the vendors’ sites and on thebabywearer.com, I got persuaded that some wraps can look very smart ;). Having hung out on thebabywearer.com, and having read other people’s experiences of using a wrap, I decided to give it a go. FreeRangeKids offer excellent information on the wrap sizing – I went for Size 5 as per their table, and I have plenty of wrap length to do all carries! Ordering was quick and easy, and delivery was super-quick (I ordered late Sunday night, and the wrap was with me Tuesday morning!), and Lynda has been a pleasure to deal with. The wrap (Indio Red/RubinRot) is absolutely stunningly beautiful, and is easy to use too (even for people with limited wrap experience like myself). The instructions DVD and the booklet are great and very helpful. What is more, even if I didn’t know anything about baby carriers, I would have no problem learning how to use a wrap from scratch from the DVD and the booklet. My daughter likes the wrap as well, as, on the first occasion when I tried it on, she agreed to go into a front wrap cross carry (on my front). She doesn’t like to be carried around the house much these days, but then she spent enough time in the carrier for me to cut my husband’s hair and sort out some breakfast. Overall, this wrap seems to be excellent value for money, as a woven German wrap can last through several babies, from newborn to toddlerhood and beyond, and when the children have grown out, it has multiple uses – e.g. as a hammock (or a great re-sale value ;) ). And indeed, due to its versatility and comfort, if I were to have only one carrier, it would be a Didymos wrap.

I was lucky enough to try a friend's didymos sling before buying my own so was comfortable with the idea of tying it and carrying my baby safely. I am thrilled to have my own sling: the fabirc is beautiful, soft, comfortable and washes really well. The didymos is very versatile, I have carried my daughter on my front, back and hip. I wish I had discovered carrying your baby in a sling with my older children - it keeps everybody happy and on the move! Don't be put off by the thought of having to tie complicated reams of fabric around your body, the sling comes with a brilliant dvd and booklet and time invested in a little practise is well worth it. The sling also doubles as a baby blanket and I have even used it as a shawl to keep myself warm when caught out on a chilly weekend away.
